Grade 10 Ice Sports Assignment

 

Your first term PE assignment is to investigate and report on an ice sport that interests you.

So far we have played:

  • Hockey
  • Bandy
  • Ringette (Wednesday)
  • Curling (Next Wednesday)

Choose an ice sport:

(Please focus on a team sport, or an Olympic / competitive sport.)

Once you have chosen an ice sport that interests you, investigate the following aspects of the sport:

  • What it is
  • History
  • How it’s played
  • Where it’s played
  • Rules and Equipment
  • Tactics and Strategies
  • Big competitions
  • Famous player(s) and/or top teams

Decide how to present what you find in an interesting way.  This assignment can be completed using a number of different media.  Here are some examples of media that you can use:

  • Essay
  • Book
  • Brochure
  • Poster
  • Slideshow
  • Collage
  • Etc.

Please use the rubric below to help you create this assignment.

Ms. Quinn will chat with each of you this week (February 1st) to discuss your assignment.

The FINAL date for submitting your assignment for grading is Wednesday, February 15th, 2012.

Uses a range of terminology accurately and appropriately in some situations.

Demonstrates a good knowledge of principles, concepts, strategies, techniques and rules related to the physical education topic or activity.

Uses this knowledge to analyse and solve problems in familiar and some unfamiliar situations.

 

7-8

 

Uses a wide range of physical education terminology accurately and appropriately in most situations.

Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of principles, concepts, strategies, techniques and rules related to the physical education topic or activity.

Uses this knowledge wisely and effectively to analyse and solve problems in familiar and unfamiliar situations.
